How do I know if mine is worth repairing?
Look at its age, its parts and the cost. Our table on the home page is the rule of thumb we use, and we look at yours before we say.
What does the visit fee cover?
The drive, the look and the explanation of your choices. If you hire us for the repair at that visit, the fee comes off the repair price.
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes, in writing. If the work changes once a wall or floor is open, we stop and you decide.
What if the part isn't made anymore?
We look for a rebuild kit, a salvaged part, or a modern valve that fits the old trim. If none of those will hold, we say so and talk about a replacement.
Do you come out at night or on weekends?
Not at night, and not on holidays: we are two people. Saturday is by appointment. If water is running and you can't stop it, close the main shutoff and call us when we open.
Do you pull permits?
When the job needs one, yes. A water heater replacement or new pipe usually does. The permit fee sits on its own line in the written price.
How long does a repair take?
Most fixture repairs take part of a morning or an afternoon. We tell you what to expect when you call, and again once we have looked.
Is there lead in my old pipes?
Plumbing solder and fittings could contain lead until 1986. If your house is older than that, say so when you call, and ask us what to look for. A lab can test your water.
What do you do with the old part?
It stays with you if you want to see it. If you don't, we take it with us.
How do I check your license?
The number is in the footer of every page, and the license page says who issues it and how to look it up.
