How pricing works

  • What decides the price

Four things move the price of a repair, and you can see most of them before we come.

    • The part: a washer or a cartridge, or a valve that has to be ordered.

    • How old the fixture is, and whether its parts are still made.

    • How easy it is to reach: under a sink, or behind a tiled wall.

    • Whether it is a repair or a replacement. We price both where both make sense.

  • What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't

The price covers the work we write down. It leaves out the wall and the floor.

    • Included: labor, the parts we install, and hauling away the old ones.

    • Not included: tile, drywall, paint or flooring, which are other trades' work.

    • Not included: permit fees, which sit on their own line when a job needs a permit.

  • What happens at the visit

We look first and say what we found before touching a tool. There is a visit fee, and we tell you the amount when you call. If you say yes to the repair at the visit, the fee comes off the repair price.

  • After hours

We don't work nights or holidays; we are two people. Saturday visits are by appointment and cost the same as a weekday visit.

  • When you get the number

Before the work starts, in writing. Where a repair and a replacement both make sense, you get both numbers on one page. If the job changes after we open it up, we stop and ask before we go on.

Hear the visit fee before you decide

Call and ask. The visit fee is the first thing we say.
